What do you dislike about? — тип вопросов, который часто задают на тесте. Чтобы на него ответить, вам нужно следовать рекомендациям в посте.

Мы с вами рассмотрим разные типы вопросов и то, как можно на них ответить. Это не является лучшим или единственно правильным ответом. Но я вам рекомендую взять их себе на заметку.

Итак, когда экзаменатор спрашивает вас подобного рода вопросы

What do you dislike about X? — type questions

1. What do you dislike about parties?
2. What don’t you like about your studies?
3. What do you dislike about eating in restaurants?

Помните, что вопросы необязательно должны начинаться именно так. Главное, проанализируйте саму суть вопроса, и затем применяйте наши рекомендации.

Порядок ответа:

1. Определить какие аспекты темы вам не нравятся
2. Описать степень вашей нелюбви к ним
3. Привести примеры почему не любите их

Вам нужно освоить или повторить следующую структуру:

1. Использовать фразы для выражения нелюбви в стиле носителя языка (I’m not keen on sports)
2. Использовать слова и фразы для выражения степени нелюбви (I absolutely dislike going to the cinema)
3. Использовать фразу «very much» правильно (I don’t like basketball very much)

Шаг 1 Выражение нелюбви

Использовать разные способы для того чтобы сказать, что вы что-то не любите. Ниже список фраз, которые вы можете использовать.

• Expression + noun

I don’t like parties

I don’t enjoy music concerts

I’m not keen on fashion

I’m not really a fan of music

I’m not interested in history

• Expression + V-ing

I don’t like living in a big city

I don’t enjoy watching television

Look at the sentences below and rewrite them in the spaces provided using the phrases in the brackets.

Шаг 2 Выражение степени нелюбви

Существует много способов чтобы сказать Мне что-то нравится. Однако все время говорить «I don’t like» очень просто и не принесет вам хорошего балла.

К примеру, можно использовать фразы

I thoroughly dislike …

I don’t really enjoy … 

I can’t stand …

Шаг 3 Very much

Многие кандидаты совершают подобные ошибки, произнося следующие фразы на экзамене IELTS

“I very like playing basketball” (X)

“I don’t like very much going shopping” (X)

Это очень плохой английский и не звучит как носитель языка.

Посмотрите на следующие предложения и посмотрите на порядок слов в предложении:

“I like playing tennis very much”

“I don’t like going shopping very much”

Есть 3 правила, которые нужно запомнить:

• нельзя использовать «very» перед глаголом
• нельзя использовать «very much» перед глаголом
• можно использовать «very much» после действия

Примеры

“I like reading romantic novels very much”

“I really like reading romantic novels”

“I don’t like going climbing in the mountains very much”

“I really don’t like going climbing in the mountains”

It is recommended to use “very much” only in short sentences.

Типичные ответы

Interviewer: What do you dislike about parties?

Candidate: Well, I generally enjoy the parties I go to, but there are a few things I don’t like. I don’t like all the drinking that usually happens and I’m not keen on meeting lots of new people at parties. If there are too many strangers at a party, I find myself having the same conversation again and again: Where are you from? What’s your major? What’s your job? I can’t stand repeating myself and this kind of conversation is very superficial; you don’t really get to know the person at all.

Interviewer: What don’t you like about your job?

Candidate: I don’t particularly like my job. I’m not interested in the field I work in, and I don’t like my line manager or many of my colleagues very much – they’re all so boring. But I absolutely hate about my job is the commute. It takes me about two hours to get to work; I have to travel during the rush hour on the subway and public buses which are always jam-packed with people – it’s terrible!
