Mini Guide to the LRT in Astana

The route consists of 18 stations running from the airport to the “Nurly Zhol” railway station, and the entire journey takes 36 minutes.

The fare is 200 tenge. You can check station locations and the nearest exits using 2GIS or other map applications.

How to pay for the ride:

1. Single ticket. You can buy a paper ticket for cash at station ticket machines or at the ticket office. Alternatively, you can get a QR ticket via Kaspi.kz or Halyk Bank by going to “Payments” → “Public transport” → “Astana LRT.”

Lifehack: Halyk Bank offers 100% cashback in bonuses when paying via Face Pay, at box terminals, when purchasing tickets, or topping up a transport card through the Halyk Super App.

The offer is valid until July 31. You can receive up to 1,000 bonus points per month (up to 5 rides).

2. Bank card/Apple Pay. If you don’t want to buy a ticket, you can simply tap your bank card or use Apple Pay at the turnstile. The fare will be automatically deducted.

3. LRT transport card. The card costs 1,000 tenge. You can purchase it at station ticket offices, and then top it up via station terminals, at the cashier, or through a banking app.

4. LRT concession card. Free travel is available for school students, pensioners, veterans, people with disabilities, and other eligible categories (full list available). You can apply for the card online at TRANSCARD.KZ

The cost is 1,200 tenge (a one-time fee for issuing the plastic card). After that, it functions as a free travel pass.

Additionally: At some stations, mobile internet coverage may still be weak, so it is recommended to open one-time QR tickets in advance before entering the station.

After a single payment, passengers can use the LRT for an unlimited period of time; however, once they exit through the turnstile, a new payment will be required for re-entry.
